Edge & Paul Bearer Appear On Today’s Raw , New Divas Champion
- Updated: April 24, 2012
WWE Hall of Famer Edge appeared in the opening segment of Raw as he gave an emotional pep talk to John Cena. The Rated-R Superstar told Cena that he must win at Extreme Rules because he can’t let someone who doesn’t care about WWE somehow become the “face of WWE” as it would be a slap in the face of legends like Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker and even Edge himself.
After Kane hit Randy Orton’s father in the back of the head with a lead pipe, The Viper returned the favor on Raw by kidnapping Kane’s father, Paul Bearer, and locking him in a freezer backstage. The Big Red Monster laughed off Orton’s attempt to rattle him, saying that he had no intention of saving Bearer because he’s always considered the devil to be his true father.
Nikki Bella defeated Beth Phoenix in a Lumberjill Match and ended her 200-plus-day reign as Divas Champion. In her first title defense since February, Phoenix suffered an injury to her left ankle, prompting the finish.
Nikki tweeted a thank you message to her fans: “Thank you #BellaArmy for your support! Hope I made you proud tonight! I’m DIVAS CHAMPION! Finally! Can’t tell you how I feel right now!”
